SMSC swims "rain or shine." Remember, the athletes are wet either way. The only time we cancel practice is if there is lightning - which is obviously out of our control. The City also has a "lightning detector" which alerts us if lightning is within 3-8 miles of the facility. Some helpful hints for rainy days: Pack a large garbage bag in your child's swim bag - they can put it around their swim bag and stuff to keep it dry. Dress warmly Have fun - a lot of us...

It's been nearly two years of "war footing" for SMSC as a result of the pandemic and some continued issues with our pool time. I am happy to announce that we signed a 3-year contract this morning that gives us a much needed ability to plan more than a month in advance and get nearly half of our programs off of the early mornings we have done since May 2020. Item #1: As a coaching staff, we are pretty fired up about all of the new kids that joined SMSC...

(Santa Maria) - After securing Bronze medal status from USA Swimming for the past 20 years, SMSC achieved its first Silver medal status ever! The program recognizes achievement of USA Swimming member clubs, regardless of team size. A majority of teams on this list have well over 200 and even 500 members! For a small team like SMSC to be on the list continually and finally achieve a Silver medal status speaks to the fine coaches and athletes that Santa Maria has developed over the past 20 years. SMSC finished...

(Arroyo Grande, CA) - Both local high school league meets took place at Arroyo Grande High School this week. SMSC had swimmers competing in both the Mountain and Ocean League Championships for their respective high schools. Not to be left out, several more SMSC athletes represented at the Channel League Championships also. To say that SMSC athletes dominated the results at these meets is an understatement. Your children have taken an unfortunate situation and rose to the occassion anyways. There are literally too many SMSC athletes for me to detail...

SMSC had meets in Clovis and Mission Viejo this past weekend. For many this represented the first real racing opportuntities in over a year. At the Mission Viejo TYR Pro, SMSC was represented by Claire Tuggle and Parker Reynolds. Considering they were some of the few high school aged athletes competing at this meet - often against professionals and college athletes, the meet went fairly well. These two athletes competed more long course mileage on the weekend than they have been able to swim in training for the past 14...
