(Seattle, WA) - Josh Prenot had a stellar meet representing SMSC dropping 7 seconds in the 400 IM to take 12th place against a mostly college field. Swimming in the consolation final for the event, Prenot moved from 15th to 12th in the back half of the race. Maddie Mastrup also represented SMSC in the 1650 Freestyle, finishing high in her heat.   (Santa Maria) - At the kickoff for the 2nd Annual Duel in the Pool Series, pitting Santa Maria against Bakersfield, Santa Monica and Clovis, SMSC faired well, dominating all but one of the boys competitions. In the3 combined team score, SMSC won in head to head action against all 3 teams. On the Men's side, SMSC managed a last second victory over Clovis, also beating Bakersfield.  4 SMSC High Performance athletes were recognized by the Santa Maria Times as they signed National Letters of Intent to high level universities around the Nation. All have signed scholarship offers for their swimming and academic achievements and are expected to contribute to their respective universities beginning in September 2010.   (San Jose, CA) - 1400 of the best age group athletes in the Region, including teams from Mexico, Canada, Arizona, Oregon and Washington brought their "A" games to the 2009 Far Western Age Group Championships. The competition was held this past weekend at Independence High School in San Jose. Elizabeth Pulido had a dominant weekend in the 11-12 Girl's competition, winning the Gold in 4 out of her 8 events.   (Fresnho, CA) - SMSC’s highest ever TEAM finish at the Central California Junior Olympics to date has been 3rd place. At the end of this weekend, SMSC wrote anothert one into the history books with a 2nd place TEAM finish, just 150 points behind Champion Clovis Swim Club. In third place was TNT, 250 points behind. 4th and 5th went to Bakersfield (400 points behind) and PUMA (1100 points behind), respectively. One group of athletes leaves today for the Far Western Age Group Championships, a collection of the best age group swimmers in California-Nevada-Oregon-Arizona and Washington, with teams from Canada and Mexico also in attendance.
