(Long Beach, CA) - The first contingent of SMSC athletes to head down to the CIF Championships represented their respective high schools and the Club with outstanding swims on Thursday night at the Belmont Aquatic Center. (Colorado Springs, CO) - SMSC continues to develop as one of the best and was recognized as such this week by USA Swimming. SMSC was awarded the BRONZE Medal of acheivement for its performances over 2006. The National Club Excellence program recognizes the top 200 clubs in the country. The top 25 are awarded Gold medal status, the next 75 awarded Silver medal status and those finishing 100-200th get Bronze medal status. SMSC finished 117th out of the 2800 USA Swimming clubs. (East Meadow, NY) - Our last day at Nationals concluded today with Jamie Furber competing in the 800 Freestyle, lowering his personal best a few seconds to 8:46. The girls relay team of Samantha Lougee, Erica Brannon, Rachael Wahl and Meghan Zimmer managed to win their heat against Arizona State and Canyons in the 400 Medley Relay. A tired cre wreturns home tomorrow for a little rest before beginning training for USA Summer Nationals and the continued pursuit of Olympic Trials time standards.
