  (La Jolla, CA) - The second full day of competition concluded Saturday at the San Diego Senior Championships with SMSC still hanging on to 2nd place and the Men's 400 Medley Relay breaking the team record. Team scores at the conclusion of the 2nd of three days had North County of San Diego holding a commanding lead with 1032, SMSC in 2nd with 409, followed by CAST (3rd / 357); and Clovis (4th / 337).   (San Diego, CA)- The first full day of competition began Saturday for the San Diego Senior Championships in La Jolla, California. Ever changing weather - sun, rain, hail - kept the competition interesting. At the end of the second evenings finals, North County Aquatics of San Diego was in the lead with 600 pts.   (San Diego, CA) - The San Diego Senior Swimming Champsionships got started with a bang Friday night as Josh Prenot swam to a new meet record in the Men's 1000 Freestyle with a 9:12. The time also destroyed Prenot's SMSC Team Record of 9:23. Also finishing in scoring position were Kristina Hendrick, Elizabeth Pulido and Kim Hendrick. The rest of the meet continues Saturday morning.

  (Colorado Springs, CO) - USA Swimming released its listing of the top teams in the USA today. The focus of this program is to identify and reward up to 200 USA Swimming clubs that have attained a high level of athlete performance as well as organizational success. Santa Maria Swim Club was again awarded the Bronze Medal for the 4th straight year. North Baltimore Aquatic Club took the top honors with the number one ranking in the country.

  (Colorado Springs, CO) - Head Coach Mike Ashmore accepted an invitation to head to Colorado Springs and the Olympic Training Center today for the National Youth Team Coaches Seminar, April 18-20. This seminar is sponsored by the National Team and Club Development divisions of USA Swimming and is being run concurrently with the National Team Coaches Seminar. Topics will include preparing athletes for Olympic Trials and London, as well as development of current SMSC athletes.  

  (Santa Maria, CA) - Coach Steve Lougee will take the reigns of the Gold Group, effective Monday, January 31, 2011. Steve previously coaches the Presenior group and coached many of our recently college-bound Senior swimmers. Please welcome him on the pool deck. We're happy to have Steve coaching again!

  (Colorado Springs, CO) - Elizabeth Pulido will be one of the 56 girls selected to the USA Swimming Western Zone Camp which brings the best 13-14 girls in the Zone together for a 4 day training camp. This year the camp will be at Arizona State University. Pulido qualified based on her swims in the summer of 2010 which placed her among the Nation's best. SMSC has had 2 other athletes make this honor, Josh Prenot and Erica Brannon.

  (Clovis,CA) - The 2nd in the Duel in the Pool Series completed this past weekend with the SMSC Women winning all 3 dual meets and then men going 1-3, beating Bakersfield but falling to Torrance and Clovis. In the Combined Team meet, SMSC managed to take down Bakersfield and Torrance but fell to Clovis. Highlights included Michaela Paige making her first Spring Junior National cut in the 200 Fly (2:06); Kristina Hendrick narrowly missed the Junior cut in the 1000 Freestyle (10:26) and Josh Miner-Dasmann dropped over a minute...
