THREE SANTA MARIA SWIM CLUB ATHLETES SIGN NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT
 
 
Santa Maria, California— Santa Maria Swim Club (SMSC) members Sonny Fierro, Michaela Paige and Josh Prenot have each signed National Letters of Intent to swim for major collegiate programs. Fierro has signed with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; Paige has signed with Cal-State Bakersfield and Prenot is taking his skills to national champion University of California-Berkeley. All three athletes have had great success at SMSC over the past several years.
 
Sonny Fierro (age 18), recently moved to Nipomo and previously trained at the famous Arden Hills Swim Club in Sacramento (home to Olympian Mark Spitz). Fierro is a USA Junior National qualifier and is working diligently to make the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 200 Meter & 400 Meter Freestyle.
 
Michaela Paige (age 17) a resident of Lompoc, has been a swimmer for SMSC for the past two years. Her specialty is the 100 Meter and 200 Meter Butterfly; and she is also a Junior National qualifier.
 
Josh Prenot (age 18) a resident of Orcutt, began swimming for SMSC as an eight-year old. In the past decade, he has qualified for USA Swimming National teams and most recently represented the USA at the Junior World Games in Russia. Prenot is also headed to Olympic Trials next summer with multiple shots at the 2012 US Olympic Team in the 100 Meter & 200 Meter Butterfly; the 100 Meter & 200 Meter Breaststroke and 200 Meter & 400 Meter Individual Medleys (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle).

With more than 200 athletes, SMSC is nationally-ranked in the Top 200 youth programs in the USA. SMSC has a rich history of producing Olympic Trials qualifiers and collegiate scholarship athletes. Workouts occur daily at the Paul Nelson Swim Center located at 516 South McClelland in Santa Maria.
