USA Swimming Club visit begins today..

(Santa Maria, CA) - Ed Spencer, USA Swimming Master Coach Consultant will be on-deck with SMSC this Sunday through Wednesday. Coach Spenser will work with most of the groups on the team, spend time with the coaching staff and discuss club operations. 

USA Swimming chooses 40 clubs per year for this honor out of nearly 3000 teams across America. SMSC's selection was a direct result of developing world ranked 18-under athletes.

Ed Spencer has been a Master Coach Consultant with USA Swimming since January of 2005. Prior to retiring from coaching, Ed was the Head Coach of the Dynamo Swim Club from January 1998 to October 2004. While there, he led the Dynamo Swim Club to several 18 & under National Championships, six consecutive years of Southeastern Senior Sectional Champions and three consecutive years (2002-2004) of second place finishes in the USA Swimming’s Club Excellence Program. Over 35 different swimmers attained Senior National qualifying times and over 20 swimmers attained Olympic Trials qualifying times during this period with three swimmers winning National Championships.

Prior to coaching at Dynamo, he was the Head Coach at the Reno Aquatic Club (1990-1998) where he had several National Champions.

Ed was the distance and IM coach (1979-1983) and Head Coach at the Industry Hills Aquatic Club (1983-1990) where four of his swimmers set more than ten American Records and won more than twenty Senior National titles. His swimmers represented the USA on the 1980, 1984 and 1988 Olympic Teams. Ed, his wife, Stephanie and daughter, Jennifer currently live in Atlanta, GA.
