SMSC jumps out early at CCS Junior Olympics....

(Bakersfield, CA) - The Santa Maria Swim Club strolled into the CSUB Aquatic Complex with the largest Junior Olympic team in its 83 year history on Thursday afternoon. While final results for the meets first of 4 sessions were not available Thursday night, it appeared that SMSC might be challenging for the lead.

Nearly 100% best times highlighted the evening. Josh Prenot won the 15-18 1000 y Freestyle in a new Junior National qualifying time of 9:31. Casey Bateman finished second.

In the girl's 15-18 division, Maddie Mastrup took the title in a new Junior National qualifying time of 10:13, followed in 2nd by Lora Lougee (also qualifying for Junior Nationals). Rebekah Corbin finished 3rd to complete the sweep.

In the 13-14 Boys and Girl's 1000 y Freestyles, SMSC was spread out in scoring positions, as well as in the 11-12 500 Frees.

Madeline Callis represented well in the 9-10 Girls 500 Freestyle.

The meet continues through Sunday evening.
