82nd Annual Columbus Day Invitational wraps up

(Santa Maria, CA) - The 82nd Annual Columbus Day Invitational (we don’t really know how long) wrapped up on Sunday with a strong SMSC showing. SMSC had the largest number of athletes in the competition, dominating early season competition.

High Performance Group Swimmer of the Meet honors went to Josh Prenot and Jordan Devine.

Age Group Elite Swimmer of the Meet honors went to Tori Dailey and Joey Romero.

All of the above have been putting in the hours in training and it was reflected in their early season performances.

Presenior Swimmer of the Meet honors went to Devon Tomooka and Kate Slaughter.  Both of them have done a great job over the past six weeks and did exactly what I wanted this weekend.  They got up on the blocks and raced to the best of their abilities and went best times in all their events.  And a big congratulations goes out to Kate who unofficially made her first JO cut in the 200 IM

The GOLD group did awesome with an unbelievable amount of best times and fast swimming! Swimmers of the meet are Madeline Callis (huge improvement in all events), and Alex Saleen, who started off the meet with an explosive 100 Freestyle and stopped for nothing the rest of the meet. Great job GOLD!

Silver Group Swimmer of the Meet honors went to Hannah Weekley, Miles Hollenbaugh, Johnathon Lara and Zoe Hull. All did a great job racing for the whole weekend! Way to go SILVER!

The team heads to Arroyo Grande in two weeks for another competition.
