SMSC Records fall at JEI...

(Los Angeles) - Many meet records fell at the JEI Invitational this past weekend at the University of California, along with the American Record in the Women's 200m IM, courtesy of Natalie Coughlin. The meet was one of the few remaining chances for many athletes to qualify for the USA Olympic Team Trials meet that begins at the end of the month or to tune up for the events they already have.

SMSC managed 3rd place finishes in the Women's 400 & 800 Free Relays, as well as in the Men's 800 Free Relay.

Swimmer of the Meet honors go to Maddie Mastrup and Josh Prenot. Maddie Mastrup swam to best times in the 200 Fly, 100 Free and 400 Freestyles, winning her heat in the 400 and the 200 Fly. Josh Prenot managed new SMSC Team records for 13-14 boys in the 200 Breaststroke, 400 IM and 200 Backstroke.

Many athletes will now head to the SCS Summer Age Group Championships while Rachael Wahl heads to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Nebraska.
