High Performance crew gears up for JEI

(Santa Maria) - The High Performance group at the Santa Maria Swim Club has approximately three weeks left until the Janet Evans Invitational. The meet to be held June 6-7-8 at the 1984 Olympic Games pool at USC is the last chance to qualify for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Currently, one High Performance athlete, Rachael Wahl, has already qualified in the 100 & 200 Butterfly.

Other athletes attending include: Casey Bateman, Jordan Devine, Jamie Furber, Maddie Mastrup, Jeremiah Palmerston, Josh Prenot, Wahl, Jared Zimmer and Meghan Zimmer. While many may not qualify for the Olympic Team Trials, it does provide an opportunity to gain valuable experience at the highest levels of the sport - something that comes in handy over the next 4 years, high school swimming and college.

The athletes will also get an opportunity to stay in the dorms at USC and get a small taste of what living on a college campus might be like, all while competing against the World's best.
