Swimmer of the Meet - Sectionals

The High Performance Group recently returned from the 2008 California-Nevada Senior Championships where they finished 5th on some truly amazing performances. I have selected two female and two male swimmers of the meet:

Female Swimmers of the Meet:

Rachael Wahl had a great week at Sectionals, highlighted by getting under 5:00 for the first time in the 400m IM. She also set a new team record in the 200m Butterfly, turning in a 2:14 and re-qualifying for Olympic Trials.

Jordan Devine also had a great week. This was Jordan's first Sectional meet, having only made the time standards this past season. Jordan narrowly missed the Spring Junior National cut in the 100m Freestyle. In the 50m Freestyle final on Saturday night, she made the Spring Junior National cut by .05!

Male Swimmers of the Meet:

Jeremiah Palmerston was an inspiration for the whole week. Having only made his cuts for this meet weeks ago, he came in to improve AND to lift up his teammates. Jeremiah was present at virtually every SMSC race, cheering and screaming for his teammates. Then fired them up even more by leading off the Men's 400m Free Relay, dropping his best 100m Free time from 1:02 to a blistering 55.8!

Josh Prenot dropped his 400m IM time from 4:54 to 4:45 on Friday morning to earned an outside lane in the Consolation Finals. Moving up from 8th to 3rd in that heat, Josh qualified for Spring Juniors with a 4:42, shattering the 13-14 Boys TEAM record by 12 seconds!

Way to go High Performance Group!
