SMSC begins to make history on Day 1 of JO's...

(Fresno, CA) - The Santa Maria Swim Club began making history on Day 1 of the Central California Junior Olympics, dominating the 800 Freestyle's across all age groups. SMSC has never been better than 4th place at the summer championship meet featuring age group teams from the Central Coast and Central Valley. After all events were contested on Thursday evening, SMSC had a solid hold on 3rd place, in front of host team Fresno.

Most of the SMSC team contributed to the points, but the 800 Freestyle was where SMSC dominated. Josh Prenot won the 13-14 Boys, while Karen Hendrick won the 13-14 Girls. Rebekah Corbin won the event for 15-18 Girls and Jeremiah Palmerston took 2nd on the Boys side.

Coach Matt Brown had this to say, "We still have a lot of swimming to go this weekend, but its great to be off to such an amazing start. The kids are excited, the coaches are excited. This is a result of the program we run and the kids and parents who have bought into it."

The meet continues through Sunday.
