SMSC finishes 5th, team records fall

(Bakersfield, CA) - Despite being largely outnumbered with A & B relays from other teams, SMSC managed a 5th place finish with some high level individual performances at the 2007 CCS Junior Olympics, Sunday.

Josh Prenot won the Boy's 13-14 500 Freestyle in 4:58, while Rebekah Corbin and Karen Hendrick provided the 1-2 punch for the girl's 500 Freestyle.

Final team scores were as follows: (1) Bakersfield-2670; (2) Clovis-2543.5; (3) Canyons-1523.5; (4) Santa Barbara-1513.5; (5) Santa Maria-1347.5; (6) CCAT-1174; (7) Fresno Dolphins-703; (8) RipTide Aquatics-621.

The 13-14 Girl's 400 Free Relay managed an SMSC Team Record by 3 seconds on the way to a 3rd place finish. Jodran Devine finished 4th in the 13-14 Girl's 50 Freestyle.

This meet nearly wraps up the short course season for SMSC. Lora Lougee and Maddie Mastrup will complete the short course season this coming week, representing SMSC at the 2007 NCSA Junior National Championships.

Long course meters season begins April 28-29 at San Luis Obispo.
