Day 2 Prelims conclude at Texas

(College Station, TX) - The morning preliminaries of the Speedo Texas Championships wrapped up with some big swims for SMSC.

In the 200 Backstroke, Erica Brannon qualified for the Consolation finals with a 2:04.88, while teammate Meghan Zimmer set a new SMSC Team Record, qualifying 2nd for the evning's finals in 2:01.59. The time also qualifies Zimmer for the USA Nationals in New York City next month.

Only 15 minutes later, Zimmer stepped up again, this time in the 100 Freestyle. Zimmer qualified 4th for the evening finals, breaking the SMSC Team Records in the 50 Free (at the turn) and in the 100 Free, turning in a 51.25. This also qualifies her for Nationals.

In the 200 Butterfly, Rachael Wahl qualified 4th for the evening finals in 2:02.07, an SMSC Team Record. James Motley qualified for the Consolation finals in 1:55.52.

In the Men's 500 Freestyle, Jamie Furber and Jason Dupere qualified for the finals (14th and 10th, respectively). Dupere turned in a 4:38.25, just ahead of Furber at 4:40.23.

This evening's finals begin at 6:00PM.
