SMSC Dominates at Columbus Day Invite!!

(Santa Maria) - The Santa Maria Swim Club started off the 2006-2007 Short Course Swim Season in strong fashion. Events were contested on Saturday and Sunday with Conejo Simi Aquatics traveling up from Simi Valley for the competition and joint training workouts with the elite groups of SMSC. Also mixing it up was the team from St. Aloysius of Sydney, Australia.

In the High Performance group, great early season swims were turned in by Rebekah Corbin (5:23 - 500 Freestyle) and Meghan Zimmer (59.0 - 100 Back). On the boy's side, Jamie Furber swam to victory in the 200 and 500 Freestyles (1:49 & 4:59), while James Motley turned in wins in the 200IM (2:07) and 200 Fly (2:04).

 

In the Presenior group, new athletes Jordann Devine and Lanessa Scott made huge improvements, while several new Junior Olympic time standards were acheived by Jeremy Grden, Josh Prenot and Zac Toomay.

In the Gold group, strong efforts were turned in by Hailey Mastrup and Lyndsey Hiltner. Gold group athlete Colter Knight turned in a come-from-behind victory in the 200 Freestyle and Jazer Moreno qualified for Junior Olympics in the 100 Freestyle.

The High Performance group heads to the Pacific Trials and Finals meet on November 3-4-5, while the Gold and Presenior groups get ready for SCAW at the end of the month.
